IN 2012 GREEN VI TRAINED SEVERAL RESIDENTS OF THE BVI TO BECOME SUSTAINABILITY LEADERS ENABLING THEM TO HELP MOVE THE BVI TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE. OVER THE PERIOD OF A YEAR, OUR TRAINING WAS BASED ON THE NATURAL STEP APPROACH AND COURSE ATTENDEES REPRESENTED PEOPLE FROM GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, BUSINESSES, LEARNING INSTITUTIONS, CHURCHES AND OTHER SECTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY.

Green VI partnered with the Conservation and Fisheries Department, the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College to facilitate a BVI Sustainability Capacity Building programme. The main sponsor for this training opportunity was the BVI National Commission for UNESCO.

Over the period of one year, participants were engaged in interactive, participatory workshops and on-line training. The Natural Step Framework, is a scientific based programme that teaches participants what sustainability is and equips them with the tools to identify and implementreal change in their organisation.
